Is it normal to bleed between periods?

I have a 28-29 day cycle. My period was normal and it ended on day 7. On day 14 & 15 I started spotting. I thought it was because I was ovulating as I felt my hormones rising a lot during those 2 days. We are now on day 19 and i'm still spotting. It's very light though. It's not like a real period. I'm not sexually active. I'm still a virgin. Is this normal? I've had a pap smear done before and a sonogram last yr. Not even a whole year ago & everything was normal and perfectly fine. My gyn told me it's normal to have some irregular periods sometimes and this has been my only concerned since the last time I saw her. I just don't want to make another appointment if this is totally fine. Thanks for your input in advance.
